The Sonari Commerce College, located geographically at latitude 27.02N and longitude 95.02E in Sonari town, the district headquarter of Charaideo, was established on 10 August, 1991. It is one of the best known leading institutions of higher education and one and only higher institution of commerce education in the entire district. Basically affiliated to Dibrugarh University, Dibrugarh, Assam, and running presently two streams, Arts and Commerce in full swing, the institution, moreover, provides education of Higher Secondary course under Assam Higher Secondary Education Council.  Considering the continuously showing better academic performance of both H.S. and Degree Courses and to comply with the growing need of Science education in the district, the Government of Assam has granted the Science Stream of Degree Course in the college and the arrangement of it is progressing. In addition to these, the college introduces a Study Centre of Open and Distance Learning under DODL (Director of Open and Distance Learning), Dibrugarh University, covering the courses of Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree of both Arts and Commerce from the Academic Session 2021-22 to fulfill the hope of achieving higher education of those learners who are unable to pursue it in a regular mode for various causes. Thus, the college is serving the society by providing the fruit of quality education to enlighten the life of people.

College Uniform:

(i) Boys' : Sky Blue Shirt and black formal pant.

(ii) Girls' : Muga or Muga Colour Mekhala and White Chador having Pink borarder with pink blouse or white churidar kurta with pink dupatta.

Procedure of Admission:

Students desire to get admission need to apply in a prescribed form attached to the Prospectus which is available at office of the Principal.(both Online & offline). A local and a paper advertisement along with notification in the college Notice Board is made from the office of the principal announcing the dates of issuing of Admission Form, submission of filled up forms and the date of interview for the admission. After a proper verification of the forms a list of candidates eligible for the admission is prepared giving importance to the meritorious students and the same is made public through the college notice board. thereby on a fixed date the eligible candidates along with their original documents are to appear before an interview Board consisting of departmental Heads and selected  teachers. Only those candidates selected by the interview board can get admission by paying prescribed amount of fees (shown sepeartely in the prospectus). Occasionally remittance from paying some certain heads of admission fees is offered particular students on some special grounds like poor but meritorious, having extra ordinary qualities etc. if the authority believes him/her to be undergone that particular category. fees once paid are not refundable. In case the Goverment decleares free admission for some particular category of students, they can avail the opportunity under the rules constructed for the same. The admission is fixed and final only when the name of the student is registered with respective Council/university.

There will be no alternation of subjects after registration.

Admission Board:

An Admission Board is constituted by the principal to handle the matters relating to admission and decision of the board is fixed and final.

Selection Test:

Students who opt for specializing in any subject are to appear in a selection test/viva conducted by the respective department and only those who can qualify it are allowed to continue major course.

Legal Guardian

Legal guardian means either of the parents of a student or (if not alive) any other senior member of the family. the students are necessarily to mention the names and phone numbers of the legal guardian for various communications from the office of the principal later on.

Students Welfare Scheme

 The College provides one time financial aid to poor but meritorious students every year under Poor Fund. Such students may apply for the same with reliable evidence from competent authority after the notification from the office of the principal.

Library facility

The College has  a good library for the use of students and teachers full of sufficient books and related journals, magazines etc. with seperate reading room. both prescribed and reference books are available here. Student can borrow books from the Library for a certain period of time using the Library cards provided by the Library. Besides there is a book bank facility in the College to provide books for the whole academic year or semester which is run by a committee.

Rules for Using Library

Students can borrow books from the Library for a certain period of time. In case of any delay in returning the book/books in due date the student will have to bear a minimum charges as late fine. A barrower is also of all responsible for the book/books he/she borrows and will have to pay the price of book/books lost or damaged in his/her custody. students will have to return book/books before the final examination.

Students Attendence

As per council and university rules.

College Identity Card and badge:

Students are issued an Identity Card and Badge of the College at the time of admission and they are to keep it with them at the college hours. Duplicate card/badges are also issued in case of looses or damages of the original one. In such cases the students will have to apply for the same to the principal and have to pay the certain fees for it. The College authority is not at all responsible for any circumstances or problem arising for the misuse of the identity card.

Code of Conduct:

The College has following codes of conduct and it is to be strictly followed by the students.

Wearing of Proper Uniform

Use of Mobile phone is strictly prohibited in the college campus.

Periodical Examination

For the proper evaluation of the students, terminal/sessional and test examination are conducted by the college examination Board. students must sit in those Examinations and otherwise they may either be penalised or debarred from appearing in the final examination.
